Adventure Bug is Andalucia's most diverse active holiday and training company. Established in 2000, they have provided successful holidays, outdoor educational programs and corporate incentive travel to hundreds of clients from around the world.

Specializing in outdoor pursuits, team building activities and fieldwork programs, they tailor-make excursions to meet your group's exact needs.

THE TEAM...

Matt and Julie Butler have 14 years of classroom teaching experience between them. Having taught at schools in Canada, England, Africa, China and Spain they offer a global flavor to their methods, skills and approaches to learning. Matt's background, as a National Park Interpreter in Canada's high mountain regions has shaped his experience as a leader and teacher of outdoor pursuits. Julie has 8 years of experience and training in outdoor pursuits around the world. Combined they are a motivational force offering new insights to experiential learning.

With British National Governing Body Awards under their belt, the pair are trained and qualified in the activities they conduct. Where more support staff is required, Adventure Bug ensures that all hired monitors have appropriate qualifications and insurance.

OUTDOOR PURSUITS
Climb, trek, abseil, Tyrol pulley, gorge exploring, caving, skiing, mountain bike, canoe, horse trek, expeditions, orienteering, archery, multi adventure, scavenger hunts, rescue games and more…
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Field trips, Morocco tours, team building, rural retreats, cultural tours, organized holidays abroad, staff incentives. Customized itineraries to suit group needs are catered for. The team looks after logistics of transport, accommodation, meals, equipment and day to day programming. “Groups simply arrive on scene – we do the rest!”
CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS
British National Curriculum, LOGSE, IB and American program requirements are included in the planning and provision of all activities and excursions.

THE PROGRAMMES

Below are examples of successful excursions we offer to schools. If there is something more specific you require, do not hesitate to ask – we specialize in tailor-made programs… All of our programs are designed to make your life easy! We take on all the logistical planning and provide pre-trip planning support, lists of materials needed (what to expect), and more.

 
OUTDOOR ORIENTATION DAYS
A one-day program of individual and group associated skills in a diverse wilderness environment. Emphasis would be multi-curricular and would consist of:
Natural Sciences Mini-Archeologist competition
Natural Sciences Travel over different terrain, rope skills
Social Skills Survival games, team building and more
Language Arts Communication
Mathematics Orienteering
Ages: Years 4 upwards
Location: Various choices
 
1-3 DAY MOUNTAIN RETREATS
Overnight group activities in rural lodgings or camp setting. Activities would involve group dynamics, light hill trekking, rope skills, survival challenges, orienteering, music, drama and more.
This program works well for any group wanting an introduction to team skills, bonding activities and a retreat from the norm!”

MULTI ADVENTURE EXPERIENCES
1 day to 1-week multi adventure itineraries for small or large groups. Activities would be wide and varied with teacher participation, night programs and pre-trip preparation assistance.
“Our aim is to offer the widest range of activities and skills to children throughout the day and evenings. It is our hope that all children will at least ‘try’ a new skill and find the rewards in doing something they never expected they’d do!”

SKI EXCURSIONS
Our Ski Excursions have been a success with other schools in the region. We offer 2-7 day ski school packages to Sierra Nevada. These trips include full ski days with qualified instructors, evening activities and cultural visits to Granada itself. We also have a choice of staying on the hill at the resort or in Granada City. Advance booking is critical!

SPECIALISED SKILL TRAINING
As trained and qualified outdoor pursuits leaders, we provide special courses and skill days in the areas of Climbing, Abseiling, Rope Training Courses, Trekking and more. If you wish to take your group on a special course or outing, we can provide a day or more of skill development at your request.

EXPEDITIONS
Full expedition involving a variety of experiences and challenges. Children will have complete input into the planning and logistics of this experience. There is an endless variety of expedition options in our area, here's a few (from simplest to more challenging):
a) 3 day back pack excursion in the Sierra de Bermeja (near Ronda) or the Alpuharras
b) 2 day scramble Mt. Reales or Sierra de los Nieves with campout
c) Multi Activity Expedition involving 2 days trekking, 1 day mountain biking, 2 days sailing, 1 day climbing (or other combos of activities)

MOROCCO
The ultimate excursion that combines a number of elements from cross cultural experiences to multi adventure and even participating in local development projects.
“Our expert knowledge of Morocco and reliable contacts with local guides ensures safe, hassle free travel and the very best itineraries.
- Trekking in the High Atlas
- Staying amongst the Berber village tribes
- Camel trekking in the Sahara
- Cultural visits of the cities Fez, Marrakech and Ouarzatte
- Community development program such as assisting at a local school for a day or helping on an agricultural project
Travel would be in the form of private mini-bus, train, donkey and foot. Duration could be anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks.

Location: Our 2 locations for Moroccan expeditions are:
  Chefchaouen, North Morocco – only a few hours drive by coach from Spain to reach this fine location in the Rift Mountains. Plenty of recreation, culture and opportunities to experience rural Moroccan life with the friendly Berber tribes people.
  Marrakech, Central Morocco – our base for longer tours that allows us to visit the high Atlas mountains, the Sierra Desert and the famous imperial cities – a fantastic all round itinerary…
