Adventurebug is a local based company and this is important.  We specialize in developing well-rounded active holidays & group programs that are easy going, authentic, informative and inspiring.

Although some programs contain 'adventure' components, most are designed for softies and are balanced with tasty food / wine, cultural highlights, fine leadership and plenty of light humor!

Adventurebug is comprised of 3 main components:

Adventurebug © Holidays  Carrying out its own unique, small group active holiday programs to clients from around the world.
New Perspectives © Training and Initiatives  Offering high value corporate, charity and school programs, events and initiatives.
Adventurebug Tour Operator Services Click Here Designing and implementing itineraries/programs for other large scale tour operators, charities, etc.

THE ADVENTUREBUG TEAM

Matt ButlerCanadian born Matt Butler, is a writer, guide and and  co-founder of ADVENTUREBUG.  Having traveled extensively in over 50 countries / 6 continents and continents having lived in Africa, China, Australia, North America and Europe he considers Andalucia to be home base - adding that "Andalucia offers a surprisingly high variety of geography, culture and rich history contained by a superb climate..."
Matt is an experienced alpine climber with a lifetime of trekking, skiing, cycle touring, water sport & mountain biking under his belt. He has 9 seasons of experience in Ranger related work with National and Provincial Parks in Canada - his latest post with Jasper National Park where he led interpretive treks and actively participated in numerous mountain rescue operations.  Matt recently published the guide book '
Holiday Walks from the Costa Del Sol' - available at: www.amazon.co.uk

Julie ButlerMatt's British born wife Julie is also an avid outdoor enthusiast and world traveler with an established background in trekking, climbing and outdoor pursuits.  Formerly a school teacher, her experience and ongoing training in Yoga and Homeopathic related techniques has greatly enriched all our programs.  Julie is the warm heart of the Adventure Bug and the crucial back up support for the guests!  When not keeping order in the reservation office, she is largely in the action and ensuring that everybody's happy with her warm smile and superb tapas lunches!

Josh seen here in action is back for another season of Adventurebug fun after a chilly year home in Canada.  Josh is a popular assistant on all of our programs - particularly school adventures and our cycle tours.  Far removed from his passion of ice hockey, Josh is a highly dependable leader no matter what program you partake in.

TigerTiger is our local based walking and cycle tour expert.  With plenty of experience living the ins and outs of rural Andalucia, his friendly, personal approach with both our guests and his neighbors makes him a joy to be on tour with.  Tiger has an extensive travel resume and continues to broaden his horizons on world wide trips.  Tiger can be found leading our Ronda & Grazalema based walks, supporting our cycle tours and assisting with our Corporate Programs.

MelanieMelanie is a fine leader whether she is guiding on horseback, offering her knowledge of wild flowers and herbs or sharing the flavors of a Tapas she has whipped up for lunch!  Mel also brings to us her experience of living in South America and a empathy for the traditions of Andalucia.  Mel can be found leading our new horse riding programs in the Cortes region of Grazalema and by assisting with our guided walk programs.

James is an experienced and dedicated trip leader with plenty of years living in Barcelona and Granada.  With a background in Tourism and Business, Canadian born James is popular for taking guests on adventures "within'' the holiday.  This spontaneous nature makes him popular especially on our guided walks and in particular on our new cultural highlight tours involving Flamenco, Ceramics, Photography and Gastronomy.  (cool shades Jim!)

Jonathon
left the rush of a UK Law Practice for the beauty and inspiration of Andalucia and in particular, Granada.  A Hispanofile by passion, Jonathon's travels have taken him to nearly 50 countries whereby he claims that he's accustomed to both the exotic and the mundane sides to travel.  A specialist in history and culture, Jonathon is a great all round guide to have on your tour.

Mandy runs our UK office enquiries and brochure requests.  She has been with Adventurebug since we opened the doors and she contributes greatly to the administrative side of things.

Martin is our IT Specialist and chief problem solver.  His high level of experience and forward thinking has greatly enhanced our operations and information network.   Martin is also available for other IT projects at: martin_hanrahan@yahoo.com

"The Adventure Bug is Andalucia's most attractive active holiday company!"

Why? Because we are located in the region's most stunning natural terrain with breathtaking views of Africa, the Mediterranean and a feast of astonishing white villages tucked away in vast forests of cork and semi tropical orchards.

More than anything though, we offer some really great excursions!  Whether you wish to explore the landscape on foot, bicycle, horseback or by water, 4x4 or bus travel we can accommodate you in the most appropriate ways.

A Map of the Andalucia Region

FEELING ADVENTUROUS?

Adventurebug is not actually an outright adrenalin experience - we like to cater to the easy stuff for the most part!  However, we do have programs that do get you 'out there'...

How about an exploration of a deep gorge or a journey down an untouched river to view wildlife? Feeling more adventurous? Try some of our climbing, abseiling and caving outings or snow shoeing and winter trekking high in the Sierra Nevada.

If you are really ambitious why not try an Active Combo holiday such as our Moorish Explorer or the Al Andaluz Winter Weekend. Our holidays are great for bringing together like minded people of diverse international backgrounds - especially over a scrumptious tapas and local vino!

So forget the busy coastal resorts, high rise hotels, mobile phones and traffic jams. This is exotically rural Andalucia - a magical place so weighted with culture, history and lush beauty that even Spain struggles to identify with it! Join your friendly world adventurers Matt, Julie and their team and discover for yourselves what's been hidden for so long.

Conservation and Protection:
Running an adventure holiday company depends heavily on the state of a region's natural resource base and ecology. Rather than contributing to the destruction, pollution and reckless development of our region's fragile ecosystems, we are instead committed to its conservation and protection.
